The Porcine Pardon: Hog Named Six Seven Granted Clemency by Miami-Dade Mayor.

Although not quite at the same level as granting clemency to holiday birds, but the mayor of Miami-Dade had her own Donald Trump moment this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. She is worthy of this pardon. No offenses are on her docket,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with obvious nods to the vast quantity of executive clemencies issued from the start of the commencement of a new presidential term.

“If we disregard eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” she went on. “I hope she experiences a lengthy and joyful existence free from concern.”

The gathering, either celebrating or rejecting the area's customary feast of consuming swine during the holidays, was created to emulate the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The pig, donated by a first responder, was given its name from the current slang trend of young people shouting “six-seven” – inspired by a musical verse – often without clear purpose. The phrase became so pervasive that a major dictionary recently named “6-7” its 2025 word of the year.

A Peaceful Retirement

This particular pig is now destined to live out its days at a farm sanctuary “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“This swine clemency has become one of our favorite ways to open the festive period,” said the event host, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It embodies the essence of Miami: happy, multicultural, and based in heritage that foster togetherness. Every time, we are proud to celebrate tradition and kindness in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Participants enjoyed a vegetarian menu of spinach croquetas and strong coffee as they marked the pig's pardon.
