James understood his monumental run of reaching double digits was at risk. At the decisive instant, however, he wasn't bothered.

The right decision meant distributing the ball – and he executed. With that selfless act, the legendary streak was over.

LeBron's astounding streak of 1,297 consecutive regular-season outings scoring at least ten concluded on Thursday night, when the league's career points king finished with a mere eight points during the Los Angeles Lakers' 123-120 triumph versus the Toronto Raptors. He delivered the game-winning assist, feeding Rui Hachimura to hit a three-pointer to win the game.

“Zero,” James stated after being questioned on the record concluding. “The important thing is we won.”

An Unselfish Play Secures the Win

James could have sought to clinch the contest – and extended the streak – with the last shot, instead, he decided to pass to his teammate on the wing. Hachimura sank it, and James raised his arms immediately.

“Just playing the game the right way. Always make the smart play,” James explained. That has always been my philosophy. It's how I learned to play. That's what I've done for two decades.”
