Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Has The Club's Backing Following PSV Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it's expected for questions to be raised about his future after another convincing defeat against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th loss in 12 games, representing the club's worst run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got plenty of support from the top,” the coach commented.

“It would be great to change things and secure a win obviously but when you're in a managerial role and underperforming then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I accept my situation. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Club Management

Upon being questioned to provide details on his discussions with the club's leadership, the head coach said:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “Through standard discussions I sense the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them since this match yet so we'll see.”

Familiar Problems and Player Response

The manager lamented recurring shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, namely poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder stated.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I’m past feeling anger internally. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He added, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a period of this nature with outcomes like these.”

Jones finished, “But we still have the emblem on our chest. And until that badge is taken away, we will always compete.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad back to the top, show everyone once more the values of this club and why people call it the greatest side in the world.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
