PSG Edges Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Secure Trophee des Champions Season-Opening Trophy in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now claimed the prestigious cup on 14 separate occasions.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic equaliser followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to get past Marseille in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.

The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a straightforward win in the match between the Ligue 1 champions and the French Cup winners after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring in the opening stages.

However, the southern French side fired two times in the closing moments to seize a surprise advantage. Initially, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable turn of fortune, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a vital equaliser in the final moments to force the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the hero, stopping crucial attempts from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all scored successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a convincing shootout victory.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this competition for the twelfth time in the past thirteen years.
