Nigel Farage Accuses Teachers of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Race Issues
Nigel Farage has asserted that educators would initiate walkouts shortly after a success at the polls for his party, accusing them of “poisoning our kids” by telling children that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and Caucasian students are perpetrators.
At a gathering for a private US Christian college, the politician expressed his perspective on the UK education system, claiming that the “radical left-wing” had “taken over schooling”.
“I’m anticipating a walkout by educators soon after securing a victory,” he remarked in response to questions.
“They are poisoning our kids. They are telling them to feel guilt about their nation. They are telling an eight-year-old black child that he is oppressed and a white child of the same age that he is a perpetrator. They are dividing us, instead of fostering unity. They are feeding this harmful mindset.”
In response to Farage’s claims, the head of a major education union rejected the idea that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “nonsense”. He pointed out that any strikes must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and questioned whether Reform would attack these immediately upon entering government.
“The politician has crafted his political career on dog-whistle politics and now, similar to other figures, he is lining up teachers and their organizations for a fight,” the union leader said.
“This is highly reckless. I don’t – and nor does my union – push critical race theory as he claims … If he were to lead the government he would undermine state services, including education … and he would be a disaster for students and learning.”
The party, which tops surveys by about 10 points, has provided limited specifics on its educational plans and seems not to have designated an education lead.
However, Farage’s remarks suggested the group would reform the system and the curriculum. He said: “We have got a massive job with education – truly monumental. And, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it will take us years, a long-term effort to reform.”
Farage expressed that gen Z was more open to critical thinking, but older youth were “completely lost”.
Honoring Charlie Kirk, Farage said: “My goal for schooling is to teach critical thinking – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and you make up your own mind as opposed to what’s happening now where one is virtuous and one is evil. This is a huge undertaking in both Britain and America.”
The party has conflicted with the UK’s largest teaching union, after the union leader labeled them “extremist and prejudiced” and dismissed Farage as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.
The politician has charged Kebede of being “a self-declared Marxist” … someone who is absolutely determined that our children should be poisoned at school, their thinking tainted about everything to do with this country” and has argued that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.
Almost one million people are employed in education in the UK, with educators comprising half and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The leading teachers’ organization has about 450,000 members.
National strikes over educators’ salaries and work environment in recent years caused widespread disruption in educational institutions and millions of days of lost learning for students.
At the US event, the Reform leader also vowed to promote the digital courses of the Christian college in the UK. He said organizations like it were “key to resistance”, adding that: “I mean this. I will help attract vast numbers of youth to these educational programs. I make that commitment tonight and I will follow through.”
The institution, a religious educational establishment, provides complimentary classes. According to its online description: “Comprehensive learning is vital for well-being and to maintain the benefits of civil and religious liberty. The college furnishes these excellent programs for free to every interested learner.”
