The winter recruitment period is always a time of intense speculation and potential big-money transfers. Several prominent players find themselves linked with moves out of their present clubs. We examine a selection of the major names who could be changing clubs this month.

A. Semenyo

Despite the Black Stars' inability to reach the Africa Cup of Nations, this has left the forward available, it appears an important transfer is imminent. This 25-year-old possesses a contract with a £65 million buy-out clause applicable for a short period at the start of the month. Latest reports suggest the Premier League champions are now the frontrunners for his signature. Former suitors such as Chelsea and Tottenham reportedly have moved on to alternative targets, potentially opening the door for teams like Liverpool or Manchester United to make a late move.

M. Guéhi

This English centre-back has continued to impress for Palace despite a previous move to Liverpool falling through. As his contract set to run out in the close season, January is the club's last chance to secure a fee for their skipper. Numerous elite clubs, such as City and several continental powerhouses including Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, reportedly be interested. Yet, a January exit remains difficult, especially given the coach's dependence on the defender.

B. Johnson

The Welsh winger has found first-team minutes limited at Spurs this campaign. Although finishing as the side's top scorer last season, Johnson has started just a small number of league games. It is understood the London outfit would be open to a sale for the right valuation, believed to be in the region of forty million pounds. Bournemouth appear to be at the front of the queue, with Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Brentford also credited with an inquiry.

Tottenham value the Welsh international at approximately forty million pounds.

Rúben Neves

This Portugal midfielder might be set for a return to the English top flight after a period in Saudi Arabia. Now only 28, and with his agreement ending in the summer of 2026, he represents a potential bargain. Teams such as Liverpool and Manchester United are connected to the former Wolves man. Additionally, there have been rumours from Spanish media that he is willing to accept a reduced salary for a switch to Real Madrid.

Marc-André ter Stegen

This experienced Germany shot-stopper finds himself as the third option at Barça under new coach Hansi Flick. Having lost his place and had an operation, a winter departure seems increasingly probable. Aston Villa were once mentioned as a potential destination, but that option currently seems unlikely. Instead, interest from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are reportedly expressing curiosity in the 33-year-old.

I. Toney

The prolific English centre-forward has kept finding the net frequently in the Middle East. A return to the Premier League might boost his fading hopes of making the national squad. But, securing a transfer poses major hurdles. Al-Ahli are reluctant to sell him, and his reported huge salary render any agreement complicated. Everton, Tottenham, and Manchester United are all mentioned as interested parties.

Conor Gallagher

This energetic English midfielder attracted considerable interest in the off-season but remained at Atlético. H. Elliott

Despite starring and winning player of the tournament at the Under-21 European Championship last summer, the young player has struggled for minutes during his loan spell at Villa. The manager has stated the loan move will not become permanent. Because of specific rules about representing multiple teams in a season, a return to his parent club prior to next season appears to be the only viable outcome.

K. Yildiz

The exciting Turkish forward is in excellent form for Juventus this term. With his current deal running down, many English clubs – such as Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool – are keeping tabs on the developments. Juventus are desperate to tie down the 20-year-old to a new long-term contract but are in a battle to retain one of the continent's most promising prospects.

Kees Smit

This much-admired Netherlands midfielder has drawn parallels to Kevin De Bruyne for his style of play. After impressing at the Under-19 European Championship, he has become a regular in the AZ Alkmaar first team. The 19-year-old is widely tipped to complete a big-money move in January. Newcastle reportedly are frontrunners, but are facing strong competition from the Spanish champions for a signing valued at approximately twenty-two million pounds.
