Battlefield 6's Relaxed Game Mode Ignites Heated Discussions Regarding Bots, XP Rewards, and Queue Times
Recently, the game developers launched a new game mode titled Relaxed Breakthrough. To put it simply, this option mirrors the standard Breakthrough setup but features a few key changes:
- Each team includes only 8 real players, with the rest filled by AI-controlled opponents.
- Actions done by real players award full XP, while bot actions offer reduced XP.
- Only two locations are available: Siege of Cairo and Empire State map.
- Elements like Dogtags, accolades, and career stat updates have been turned off.
In short, this mode delivers on its title: it's a laid-back take of Breakthrough. On the surface, one could assume there's nothing wrong, as it gives additional choices for players seeking different ways to have fun with the title. But, gaming history have taught us anything, it is that not everyone will be happy. Which is to say, many Battlefield 6 players are mad.
Player Responses: From Fury to Support
"Gamers prefer real players. Avoid making the mistakes of your competitors," states one reply to the official announcement. "Truly disappointing concept," says a different user. Meanwhile, on the Battlefield subreddit, a player remarks, "I have no idea where we are going with this game," while someone else details all the issues they believe to be broken in Battlefield 6: "Resolve glitches, fix drone glitch, fix IVF rockets, adjust aiming after sprinting, fix awful hit registration. We don't need this bot mode."
However, for every complaint, there are players sharing how much they're liking the new mode. "It's very fun to practice, human participants prevent it from being a total farmfest but it's very relaxed," reads one Reddit comment. "This subreddit doesn't understand that there are gamers who actually go outside and can't play this game 24/7. Let them find a middle ground," states another. One reply via social media clarifies that as they're "a parent gamer with busy schedules, this is great for me," and someone else praises the mode for "not being overcompetitive."
Constructive Criticisms and Player Feedback
Despite the support, players have valid points to criticize the new mode. A few folks have pointed out that it will make queue times even longer for different playlists due to the sheer number of options in the game already. On a similar note, some areas often face mostly bots in the existing playlists. Additionally, it appears a little backwards that the mode won't start without a minimum number of human gamers, despite it focuses mostly on fighting AI opponents.
Lastly, one of the biggest complaints is that a previous feature was promised to offer complete rewards, even against bots, but that got canned when they attempted to remove bot farms from the mode. Thus Casual Breakthrough seems like the player base meeting them in the middle, as per a Reddit comment. A different user describes this mode as the developers "making a mistake significantly, I experienced so much fun in the first couple of days, why did they feel the need to change it?"
Looking Ahead: Adjustments Be Made?
Should the development team has proven anything so far with the latest installment, it's that they're paying attention and responding to feedback. Tasks that were overly hard got fixed very quickly, as did the specific battle pass objectives. It is likely that, should analytics shows this new playlist isn't performing to their standards, they will not hesitate to change it again.
